พระทุรคา

พระทุรคา (สันสกฤต: दुर्गा, IAST: Durgā) เป็นเทวีองค์สำคัญในศาสนาฮินดู บูชาในฐานะปางหลักหนึ่งของมหาเทวี ถือว่าพระทุรคาเป็นเทวีแห่งการปกปักรักษา, พลังอำนาจ, ความเป็นมารดา, การทำลายล้าง และการสงคราม

ตำนานพระทุรคามีจุดศูนย์กลางอยู่ที่การรบของพระนางกับอสูรและพลังอำนาจชั่วร้ายที่เป็นภัยแก่ความสงบสันติ ความเจริญ และธรรม พระนางจึงเป็นภาพแทนของความดีชนะความชั่วร้าย เชื่อกันว่าพระทุรคาจะปลดปล่อยความเกรี้ยวกราดของพระนาง (divine wrath) ต่อผู้ที่มีจิตใจชั่วร้าย หรือเพื่อการปลดปล่อยผู้ที่ถูกกดขี่ และนำมาสู่การทำลายล้างเพื่อสนับสนุนการสร้างสรรค์ พระทุรคาถูกมองว่าเป็นเทวมารดาและมักแสดงในรูปสตรีรูปงามขี่เสือหรือสิงโต มีมือจำนวนมากถืออาวุธครบมือ และมักแสดงพระนางมีชัยเหนืออสูร มีการบูชาพระนางอย่างกว้างขวางในลัทธิศักติ ซึ่งเป็นนิกายในศาสนาฮินดูที่บูชาเทวสตรีเป็นหลัก และยังคงความสำคัญในนิกายอื่นเช่นลัทธิไศวะและลัทธิไวษณพ

คัมภีร์เล่มที่สำคัญที่สุดของนิกายศักติ เทวมหัตมยะ และเทวีภควตปุราณะ สรรเสริญเทวีในฐานะผู้สร้างสรรค์จักรวาลแรกเริ่ม และในฐานะพรหมัน หรือความสัตย์จริงสูงสุด พระทุรคาถือเป็นหนึ่งในห้าเทพเจ้าที่มีศักดิ์เทียมกันในคติปัญจยาตนบูชาของธรรมเนียมสมารตะ มีการบูชาพระทุรคาเป็นพิเศษหลังการเก็บเกี่ยวในฤดูใบไม้ผลิและฤดูใบไม้ร่วง โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในเทศกาล เช่น ทุรคาบูชา, ทุรคาษฏมี, วิชัยทัศมี, ทีปาวลี และ นวราตรี
