ราฟาเอล

ราฟาเอล (อังกฤษ: Raphael) หรือ รัฟฟาเอลโล ซานซีโอ ดา อูร์บีโน (อิตาลี: Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino; 28 มีนาคม หรือ 6 เมษายน ค.ศ. 1483 – 6 เมษายน ค.ศ. 1520) เป็นจิตรกรชาวอิตาลีที่มีอายุน้อยที่สุดในบรรดาจิตรกรผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ในสมัยฟื้นฟูศิลปวิทยา โดยมีอายุน้อยกว่าเลโอนาร์โด ดา วินชี 31 ปี และอ่อนกว่ามีเกลันเจโล บัวนาร์โรตี 8 ปี เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2051 ราฟาเอลได้เดินทางไปยังเมืองฟลอเรนซ์เพื่อศึกษางานของเลโอนาร์โด ดา วินชี และของมีเกลันเจโล ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2055 ได้ไปอยู่ที่กรุงโรมและพากเพียรเขียนภาพเพื่อให้ทัดเทียมกับศิลปินผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ทั้งสองท่านที่เขายกย่อง ราฟาเอลได้เขียนจิตรกรรมฝาผนังหลายชิ้นในนครวาติกัน ซึ่งถือกันว่าเป็นผลงานขั้นสูงสุดในยุคฟื้นฟูศิลปวิทยาที่สามารถรวมเอาความสงบนิ่งไว้กับความสมดุลได้อย่างกลมกลืน ราฟาเอลได้รับการแต่งตั้งเป็นสถาปนิกผู้รับผิดชอบในการก่อสร้างมหาวิหารเซนต์ปีเตอร์ในปี พ.ศ. 2057 และมีส่วนในการวางผังเมืองกรุงโรม
